This support means that after two-step verification is turned on, you'll no longer need app passwords for Office 2013 clients. Office 2013 clients (including Outlook) support new authentication protocols and can be used with two-step verification. If you try to create one after that limit, you'll be prompted to delete an existing password before being allowed to create the new one. There's a limit of 40 passwords per user. When using app passwords, it's important to remember:Īpp passwords are autogenerated, and should be created and entered once per app. If you don't see App passwords as an option, they're not available in your organization. Microsoft 365 will ask for your mobile number, then send you an SMS message containing a 6-digit code to verify your device.Important: Your administrator might not allow you to use app passwords. If you would rather use SMS messages sent to your phone instead, select I want to set up a different method. If you don't have it installed there is a link provided to download it. If you have it installed on your mobile device, select Next and follow the prompts to add this account.
